About Me
Hi! My name is Samantha. I became a therapist after a slightly unconventional journey and my own existential musings. I went to law school for one week before I decided that I didn’t need to go through law school in order to help and support others in the ways that I wanted. I don’t believe that our life paths are linear, and that neither is healing. I feel extremely grateful and honored to be a part of my client’s journeys and in their own self-learning.
One of my passions is providing clients with the chance to be heard in a safe, non-judgmental environment. I believe that when we are in a quieter, calmer state of being that we can begin to process feelings and understand who we are. Life can be difficult, and we need a space to talk about and process these events that happen.
My style of therapy is person-centered with a trauma informed lens. Trauma informed lens comes from the perspective of “What happened to you” vs “What is wrong with you.” I also utilize CBT, and DBT Mindfulness interventions in working with clients who are dealing with anxiety and depression. Having been through my own struggles and life transitions, I also have interests in processing through them together.
In my personal life, I spend time with my (big) Greek family, friends, and pets; making bracelets, reading fiction, lifting weights, traveling, and going to concerts. Other passions of mine include animals and nature of all kinds. You can usually find me saving various animals that I find, hiking & being outside all year-round, and native plant gardening. Because a huge emphasis in therapy with me is a strong self-care and wellness routine, I also practice what I stress to others.
Education and Degree:
I received my Masters of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University in 2018, and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.
